1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing The Rum Geography platform, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, exit the site immediately.
2. Nature of Service
Rum Geography is a travel and research platform. We provide a proprietary database of distilleries and brands. We do not sell alcohol. We do not provide liquor licensing advice. You are responsible for complying with local alcohol and travel laws in your jurisdiction.
3. Proprietary Database & Intellectual Property
The Rum Geography ® is a registered trademark protected under the UKIPO and international filings via the Madrid Protocol (WIPO). The 3,300+ listings, enriched data, and geographical arrangements on this platform are the exclusive property of The Rum Geography ®. This content is protected by the UK Copyright and Rights in Databases Regulations 1997, trademark law, and international treaty.
Database Right: We claim a specific database right in the selection, verification, and arrangement of distillery data.
No Scraping: You are strictly prohibited from using manual or automated software (spiders, robots, scrapers) to extract data.
No AI Training: Use of our content to train, fine-tune, or inform Large Language Models (LLMs) or AI systems is strictly prohibited without a separate commercial license.
4. User Accounts & Content Gating
Access to specific database fields requires a user account.
Accuracy: You must provide a valid email and accurate “Intent” data.
License: Your account grants a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to view data for personal research or travel planning.
Verification: Accounts are subject to email verification (Double Opt-In). We reserve the right to terminate accounts using “disposable” or “temporary” email addresses.
5. Prohibited Commercial Use
You may not use our data to build competing directories, travel apps, or commercial lead lists. Any commercial use requires written consent. Unauthorized commercial extraction will result in a minimum liquidated damages charge of £500 per listing record accessed or extracted.
6. Third-Party Information & Travel Risks
Distillery hours, tour availability, and locations change. We provide data “as is.” We are not liable for inaccuracies or for your safety during travel to any listed location. Verify all details with the distillery before traveling.
7. Online Shop & Affiliates
Purchases of physical maps or posters are final. Shipping is handled by third-party carriers. We may earn commissions on affiliate links; these do not influence our data integrity.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, Rum Geography is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or travel to listed destinations.
9. Governing Law
These Terms of Service and any dispute or claim arising out of them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. The Scottish Courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with these Terms or their subject matter.
