Rum Guide to Jamaica

Jamaican rum is a true icon. Jamrock has the majestic Blue Mountains and rum legacy shaped by contrasting north and south island climates. The first sugarcane plantation in the New World, British rule shaped its history, and at one point had a staggering 814 plantations. The island’s limestone soil helps distillers create their classic pot distilling tradition and signature overproof, molasses-based rums. Jamaican rum has been a global player for centuries, earning international recognition and a protected Geographical Indication (GI). Today, only a handful of distilleries remain, “high ester” muck and dunder creates exceptionally flavorful rums. Visiting Jamaica is on every rum lovers bucket list.
