Turks & Caicos, a string of 40 coral islands in the turquoise Caribbean (from “cayo hico” in Lucayan), has small rum scene with one distillery. The name pays homage to a shipwrecked West African tribe who settled on Middle Caicos. Using molasses and traditional pot still distilling, the rum is then aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels. Providenciales is the third largest of the Turks and Caicos Islands and the most populated. Whether you enjoy unspoilt islands, stunning beaches, water sports or wildlife the local rum is waiting to be discovered.
