The Caribbean > Dominica

Dominica is mountainous and aptly named Nature Island and has vibrant lush rainforests, and volcanic-rich soil, enriched by ancient eruptions to nourish sugarcane. The island is steeped in French and British colonial history, a distillery, was established in 1763 and uses column stills to make rum from home-grown sugarcane juice. Exciting news for rum enthusiasts: a new distillery is underway, adding another reason to visit this rum island. Locals also craft their own bush rum, infused with herbs and spices, reflecting the island’s rich natural resources. When you visit you can try the “Punch à la Dominiquaise,” a refreshing rum-based drink.
