Estonia has islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa, and over 2,300 other islands and islets on the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea. It’s history as a trading hub during the Age of Sail, Estonian ships and merchants actively participated in the colonial era, forging trade routes with the Caribbean. This connection is evident even today. Since 1898, a distillery in Estonia has been bottling and selling Caribbean rum, making it a familiar taste for many Estonians. They created a unique Estonian liqueur in the 1960s. This aromatic rum-based liqueur continues to be enjoyed as a local specialty.
