Seychelles: “Paradise Islands” is the smallest country in Africa and has a tropical climate and pristine beaches scattered across 115 islands. Rum arrived with the British Navy in the mid-1500s, but sugarcane cultivation only began in the late 1800s. Today, rum production is centred on the island of Mahé, with a distillery established in 2002, crafting rum using locally-grown sugarcane and traditional pot distillation techniques.
