Rum Lovers Guide to Grenada

Grenada is called the Spice Island for its rich selection of produce. Created by volcanic origins evident in the fertile soils that once had vast sugarcane plantations during British colonial times. In the north, beside one of the many craters, the oldest established distillery in 1785 is one of the best examples of traditional rum-making unchanged in centuries. However, Grenada isn’t afraid to embrace the new. A modern distillery has reintroduced cane growing to create terroir-driven rum. This field to bottle distillery has just opened a new distillery experience and highlights field by field expressions of the island’s agricultural character. Foodies and rum enthusiasts alike will find paradise in Grenada, with rum or Guinness punch topped with the island’s prized nutmeg.
