Rum Guide to Canada 

Canada’s vast landscape, with towering mountains, sprawling forests, and freshwater lakes has a unique rum story. Eastern provinces, with historical ties to the Caribbean, have a lasting legacy of Jamaican and Navy rum styles. 

While cold winters prevent cane juice rum, a thriving craft scene has emerged. Quebec’s rich distilling heritage would suit cane juice rum but fresh cane and liquor laws have steered them towards traditional rums. 

Today, Canadian distillers are getting creative, experimenting with ageing in ex-whiskey barrels, ice wine, and other casks to develop exciting rum expressions.
