Israel or the “Holy Land,” has an arid desert climate with the salty Dead Sea Lake, but does have snow-capped peaks in the northeast. While wine-making is more common, rum is a being made and bottled. In 2017, the first Israeli rum emerged, reflecting a recent surge in craft distilling, with a producer using brown sugar and molasses.
