Uganda, the “Pearl of Africa,” known for its lush landscapes and Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake, enjoys a warm tropical climate. Rum production has a complex history. Moonshine was prevalent during British rule, while more recent times have seen a shift towards legal rum. In Jinja, a distillery utilizes the local Kinyara sugarcane variety to create a unique rum, employing pot distillation, Solera aging, and charcoal filtration.
